Mac's Ale

MacTarnahan's Brewing Company
Portland, OR

Style: Amber Ale

Ade’s Rating:
one beerone beerone beerone beerone beer   (Drinkable, but flawed)

MacTarnahan's is the flagship beer of the former Portland Brewing Company and is a staple in the Portland brewing scene, but this Beer Dork leaves it rather than takes it. In the land of elite ambers, MacTarnahan's comes in a little tinny and without a signature that keeps it a tier below the likes of Alaskan, New Belgium’s Fat Tire, and the unparalleled Mac and Jack’s African.

While MacTarnahan’s will flourish due to locals’ loyalty to the PBC, if you make your way to the tap room, do yourself a favor and take advantage of the additions found due to the Pyramid influence—try their respectable Hefeweizen and tasty Snow Cap.
