Comments:
Southfield is more or less a business district, full of office buildings, strip malls, shopping centers, and tons of traffic. And this little brewpub fits right in, with a bright urban and slightly upscale atmosphere to accompany a hearty menu featuring all the “American” fare you’d expect from an Applebee’s or a Chili’s, but with a little local twist and a couple extra bucks tacked on the prices.
The beer ain’t bad either, with a rotating list of offerings.
I started with their Northwest Gold, which is really a pretty standard training wheels light ale. It has a very light body, accompanied with a mild noble hoppy bite. It’s very clean and very high in carbonation. With its light blonde, straw color, it was every bit the imitation “macro” offering for people who don’t like beer. With that in mind, it’s clean, crisp and surprisingly not a bad effort.
