America’s Brewing Company (also known as the beer brewed for Walter Payton’s Roundhouse brewpub) now bottles for retail sale. That means you can enjoy a little sweetness at home. This wheat ale is brewed with orange peel, coriander, and sixty pounds of honey. Sweetness, indeed! It pours with a big head and is a hazy dark gold. I noticed though that coming out of the bottle, it looked like it might be a little watery.
On the nose you can smell the wheat and a slightly sweet scent. That sweetness shows itself in a big honey flavor that really evens things out, because it is a touch watery. It’s also got a floral, citrusy taste that’s really pleasant.
Overall, this is a smooth-drinking, lightweight beer that goes down pretty easily. It’s good summertime drinking.
